Children in China’s impoverished regions suffer from a severe shortage of reading resources. Twenty percent of rural households have no books at all, 70 percent of rural households own fewer than 10 books, and 36 percent of children read fewer than three books per year. This fundraising campaign aims to alleviate the scarcity of reading materials for rural children, gradually meet their reading needs, and further enrich their spiritual world as well as their physical, emotional, and intellectual growth.
This project aims to establish classroom book corners, provide reading toolkits, and organize summer reading camps. At the same time, it will set up a training camp for class teachers and host a principals’ forum, thereby fostering mutual learning and shared growth between teachers and students, better developing rural cultural campuses, and contributing to the continuous improvement and comprehensive advancement of China’s education system.
After three days of fundraising and matching donations, according to statistics compiled by the Xiangrong Public Welfare Foundation in Beijing, the funds raised in this campaign are expected to equip at least 20 classes in three schools with book corners within the next 3 to 6 months. This means that nearly 1,000 primary school children will have access to extracurricular books within the next three years.
Chairman Zhang stated, "Actively fulfilling social responsibility and prioritizing giving back to society are essential values for the survival and development of an enterprise." Through this project, Suzhou Agix provides abundant reading resources for children in rural areas, giving every child in the mountains the opportunity to access a broader and richer modern society. Furthermore, we are determined to continue such charitable activities long-term, making it a part of our corporate culture, ingrained in our DNA, and a steadfast part of our character.
