Project Overview: The tunnel lighting system is divided into four sections—entrance, transition, basic, and exit—each of which is further categorized into three types of luminaires based on their functions: emergency lights, all-day lights, and enhanced lights. Brightness requirements vary across different zones within the tunnel, depending on numerous factors such as external ambient brightness, traffic volume, the concentration of exhaust gases inside the tunnel, vehicle speed, and the maintenance cycle of the luminaires. Moreover, these requirements are also influenced by the pavement material and the finish materials used on the tunnel walls. The system was designed using microcontroller technology and employs a two-level transmission architecture: the first level uses fiber optic cables, while the second level utilizes the 485 protocol. Given the complex environment inside the tunnel, the user deployed IES-426 industrial Ethernet switches from Sanwang to establish a fiber-optic ring network, enabling Ethernet-based control and utilizing a serial port server (NP311) for TCP/IP transmission, thereby achieving intelligent lighting control via the 485 bus. This system features network redundancy with a response time of less than 300 milliseconds, operates over a temperature range from -40°C to 75°C, and boasts an IP30 protection rating, making it perfectly suited for use in tunnel environments.
This project fully demonstrated the superior performance of the Sanyang Communication IES-426 industrial Ethernet switch (embedded with 801M):
1. Utilizing SW-Ring technology, a fast fiber-optic ring network with a response time of less than 300 ms, along with twisted-pair ring network redundancy technology, enhances the reliability of system communication.
2. Industrial-grade redundant DC power input of 18–36VDC, featuring filtering, overvoltage protection, and EMC protection to ensure stable system operation;
3. With a wide temperature range of -40℃ to +75℃ and an IP30-rated dustproof design, the system operates reliably even in harsh and hazardous environments.
4. Offers DIN rail and wall-mount installation options, suitable for various installation conditions.
